All you need for the good life

As a new home owner at Kenepuru Landing, you and your family will enjoy the benefits of a distinctive urban centre that is growing and developing, within an appealing natural setting.

Kenepuru Landing is handy to schools and colleges, public transport, recreational opportunities, retail shopping and the Porirua central business district. The new community ticks all the boxes in terms of convenience and good, economical living.

Spoilt for choice outdoors

Porirua City boasts almost 1000 hectares of reserves, so there’s an outdoor experience to suit everyone right on the doorstep of Kenepuru Landing. The highlights include Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, where you can add horse riding to your list along with mountain biking and hiking; and Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve, where you can experience a protected wetland. There are many other opportunities, too …

Try one of the dozens of walking tracks from easy to difficult that showcase the coastline, bush, city, farmland, wetlands, and historic sites, not to mention those spectacular hill summit views.

Tee up a round

Porirua has three full 18-hole golf courses as well as a mini golf course for the whole family.

Get on your bike

The hills to the west of Porirua offer a wealth of MTB opportunities, from trails that can be enjoyed by the whole family, to downhill runs for the wild at heart.

Thrills and spills

For those seeking a vigorous escapade, take to the trees in Adrenalin Forest’s multi-level aerial obstacle course. Or in more relaxed style, make a family day of it at Aotea Lagoon’s adventure playground, fitness circuit, rose gardens, and Sunday train rides.

Indoor amenities aren’t too shabby either

Kenepuru Landing residents will have access to all the opportunities for indoor activities you’d expect from a modern urban centre. Whether you want to browse the wares at a market, learn about history, attend a concert, or support your team on a Saturday, Porirua has it all on tap.

History on display

Porirua’s museum, Pataka, displays local history as well as exhibitions from national and international artists, and includes a library and cafe. The NZ Police Museum provides a journey through the country’s policing history, with murder weapons and exhibits relating to famous tragedies and disasters.

Facilities for sport, aquatics, fitness, and events

The Te Rauparaha Arena and Aquatic Centre is Porirua’s premier events centre for indoor sports, concerts, banquets, conferences, and trade shows. The Aquatic Centre has a wave machine, waterslide, spa, sauna and lazy river, and pools for all ages. There’s a top-class fitness centre, too, and a range of community, and after-school programmes.

about porirua

To market, to market

The city’s lively markets include the Cobham Court Market that runs overnight from Friday to Saturday with fresh fruit, vegetables, and ethnic food. The Kenepuru Hospital market on Saturday mornings is perfect for lovers of vintage and secondhand treasures.

Porirua is revitalising!

Colonial Knob

With construction beginning in 2018, the park’s network of trails will entice walkers and mountain bikers alike. Also planned are several cafes, an indoor surf simulator, and a chairlift. The $21 million development will be built at no cost to ratepayers. The park will attract adventure seekers from far and wide, and add jobs and around $40 million to the local economy.

The city is in the process of a decade-long revitalisation, with new public spaces, markets, better pedestrian access, and business initiatives. Mayor Mike Tana says that recent big property sales and new businesses moving to or starting up in the city demonstrate that business confidence is growing. “Our CBD is a focal point for Porirua City – providing social, recreation and employment opportunities. We’re working to make our city centre a place where more people want to live, work and invest in …” he says.
